The BETA Project (Building Intergenerational Learning for Ethical Technology & Responsible AI) is an initiative by Smart Aid Initiative focused on bridging the gap between generations in the rapidly evolving digital age. The project brings together the Born Before Computers (BBC) generation and the Connected New Now (CNN) generation to explore how technology has evolved, the ethical challenges surrounding artificial intelligence, and how communities can adopt technology responsibly while preserving cultural values and social accountability. Through trainings, intergenerational dialogue, and community storytelling, the project strengthens awareness on ethical technology, digital safeguarding, data protection, responsible AI governance, and technology-facilitated gender-based violence (TFGBV). The project also supports education stakeholders, including Ministry of Education officials and school guidance counsellors, to better respond to digital risks affecting students and communities.
To promote ethical technology adoption and responsible artificial intelligence (AI) practices through intergenerational learning, digital safeguarding, and inclusive community engagement that strengthens accountability, cultural values, and human dignity.
To create a future where every young person regardless of background, gender, or ability has equitable access to education, opportunity, and the resources needed to become leaders and change-makers in their communities.
