Capacity Building for CBOs in Kaduna State

This activity strengthens the frontline capacity of Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) to prevent and respond to gender-based violence and harmful practices in Kaduna State. CBOs are often the first point of contact for survivors and families, yet many operate without consistent safeguarding standards, survivor-centered response skills, referral structures, or reliable documentation tools. The capacity-building program will provide hands-on training and mentoring to improve their technical and operational readiness, covering safe disclosure handling, confidentiality and informed consent, “do no harm” principles, psychological first aid basics, and referral pathways to health, psychosocial, legal, and protection services. Community Based Organisations will also build skills in community mobilization, school-community collaboration, advocacy messaging, and risk management, ensuring their work protects survivors while reducing backlash and stigma. The training will strengthen CBOs’ ability to track outcomes and improve learning through simple monitoring tools and ethical reporting practices. This activity has created a stronger community safety net for better-prepared CBOs to deliver more coordinated prevention work, respond to cases more responsibly, and support more girls to access protection and justice without re-traumatization.
