EQUAL-TES (Tech, Ethics and Solutions) is an education-focused initiative designed to help schools and communities in Kaduna State use technology, especially Artificial Intelligence (AI) ethically and in ways that improve learning while protecting children and young people. As digital tools become more present in classrooms and daily life, many public schools, families, and educators are still navigating how to use them safely, fairly, and effectively. It responds to this gap by strengthening digital inclusion and building a culture of responsible technology use that supports better education outcomes.
At the core focus of EQUAL-TES is capacity building for teachers and educators. Through practical, hands-on training, educators learn digital teaching and productivity skills and how to use AI responsibly to support lesson planning, assessments, and classroom delivery, helping reduce workload without compromising learning quality or child safety. The project also equips teachers with clear guidance on ethics, privacy, fairness, and safe classroom rules so they can guide students to use technology in a disciplined and responsible way.
We are engaging young people in secondary school especially girls to engage and introduce them to ethical technology and Artificial Intelligence to enhance their learning and understanding
EQUAL-TES pays special attention to girls and young women, who often face higher risks of exclusion and online harm. The project supports safer learning environments by strengthening awareness and response to technology-facilitated gender-based violence (TFGBV) and promoting positive, confidence-building digital participation for girls.
Beyond schools, it engages key education stakeholders to drive long-term change. We work with school leaders, parent groups, community actors, and the Kaduna State Ministry of Education to support frameworks that promote digital inclusion, accessibility, and ethical AI use in education. This includes strengthening institutional capacity and advancing practical guidance and policies that public schools can adopt.
EQUAL-TES is ultimately about ensuring that technology serves education, helping teachers teach better, helping students learn safely, and ensuring that innovation is guided by human dignity, inclusion, and accountability.
To strengthen education in underserved communities by building the capacity of educators, empowering young people and families, and working with education stakeholders to promote digital inclusion, accessibility, and ethical AI use through intergenerational learning, dialogue, and practical tools—so no one is left behind in the digital age.
To create a future where every young person regardless of background, gender, or ability has equitable access to education, opportunity, and the resources needed to become leaders and change-makers in their communities.
