Jiki Na Haki Na

Jiki Na Haki Na is a girl-centered protection and empowerment project supported by UNFPA, designed to respond to the everyday realities of adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) in Kaduna State. In many communities and schools, girls face overlapping risks of gender-based violence, female genital mutilation, early marriage, limited access to accurate sexual and reproductive health information, mental health stigma, and growing digital exclusion.

Yet what makes these risks more dangerous is the silence and confusion around them: many girls do not know their rights, do not recognize abuse early, and are unsure of safe, trusted pathways to report or seek support. Schools also often lack functional safeguarding structures that can prevent harm and respond effectively when incidents occur.

Jiki Na Haki Na addresses these gaps by combining health and rights education with practical school-based safeguarding systems, while expanding community understanding of the Kaduna State VAPP Law and why it matters. By equipping girls with knowledge, strengthening protection structures around them, and mobilizing stakeholders to uphold accountability, the project ensures that girls are not only informed but protected, supported, and able to make confident decisions about their safety, education, and future.
