Campus Kick Against Gender-Based Violence (KAGBV)

The Campus Kick Against Gender-Based Violence Campaign mobilizes tertiary institutions students and campus communities to take a clear stand against harassment, exploitation, coercion, and all forms of GBV while deepening understanding of the Kaduna VAPP Law and safe reporting pathways. Using sports and creative youth engagement as an entry point, the campaign will reach students in a language they relate to: teamwork, courage, discipline, and respect. Through a well-branded “Kick Against GBV” event series such as football games, awareness walks, spoken-word performances, drama, and peer-led dialogues, the project will address issues that are common in tertiary settings, including sexual harassment, pressure in relationships, cyber harassment, and the normalization of harmful behaviors. Information booths and peer educator teams will provide practical guidance on consent, bystander intervention, and where to report and seek confidential support on and off campus. The campaign will also identify and train campus champions to continue awareness activities beyond the event days, helping to sustain momentum and peer accountability. The expected result is a stronger campus culture where students recognize GBV early, reject stigma, support survivors, and feel empowered to use the protection pathways available to them under the law and institutional systems.
