Positive Masculinity Circles for Boys and Men
Positive Masculinity Circles engages boys and men as essential partners in preventing gender-based violence and shifting harmful social norms that enable abuse and discrimination. Rather than approaching men only as “perpetrators,” this activity creates safe, guided spaces where boys and men can reflect honestly on pressure, power, relationships, and the consequences of violence while learning healthier ways to express masculinity rooted in respect, accountability, empathy, and self-control. The facilitated small-group circles explore consent, boundaries, and respectful communication; challenge victim-blaming and harmful stereotypes; and build practical bystander skills so participants can intervene safely when they witness harassment, exploitation, or abuse. The circles will also address online harms such as cyberbullying, image-based abuse, and digital harassment helping boys and men understand the harm and legal implications of these behaviors. Through peer influence, role modeling, and community accountability pledges, participants will be supported to become visible allies who promote safety in schools, campuses, and neighborhoods. Over time, this activity aims to reduce tolerance for violence, strengthen respectful relationship norms, and build a growing group of male champions who actively support the rights, dignity, and safety of girls and young women.
